Welcome to AWIC (Association of Writers and Illustrators for Children)! The association was founded in 1981 by the well-known writer and cartoonist, K. Shankar Pillai. Since then, the members have been endeavouring to promote the development of children’s literature in India.
AWIC includes writers, illustrators, translators, librarians, editors, publishers and others who are working for the promotion and creation of good reading material for children. It connects with individuals and organizations working with similar objectives in other countries.
The association organizes conferences, workshops, storytelling activities and workshops for writers. It also has a significant publishing programme. Besides, AWIC has successfully undertaken promotion of a non-formal library network in India.
AWIC is the Indian section of IBBY (International Board on Books for Young People). |
